Rayburn Baxter Tipton Obituary (1941 - 2016)

Rayburn Baxter Tipton, 74, of the Rheatown community, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. He is survived by: 4 sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff and Debbie Tipton, Rick and Rebecca Tipton, Greg and Tracy Tipton, Roger and Gina Tipton; daughter: Sherrie Tipton; 2 step daughters: Julia Bell and Linda Ellenburg; grandsons: Gregory Tipton Jr., Jordan Tipton, Corey Tipton, Seth Tipton; granddaughter: Misty Tipton-White; step grandchildren: Cody Wagers, Adam Chandley, Jonathan Bell, and Ashley Ellenburg; several great grandchildren; aunts and uncle: Mary Lee Carter, Dale and Yvonne Tipton; special friend: Linda Tipton. He is preceded in death by: parents: Chester and Orlie Tipton; wife: Shelba Jean Tipton. He attended Fairview C.P. Church. He is retired from the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong member of Mason Lodge Phoenix 8 in Fayetteville, NC, member of the VFW Post 1990, and the Moose Lodge #692. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service Afton. The funeral service will follow at 8 PM with the Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating. There will be a Moose service held prior to the funeral services on Wednesday. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service on Thursday at 10 AM at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jordan Tipton, Corey Tipton, Gregory Tipton Jr., Seth Tipton, and friends at Fairview C.P. Church. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the Moose Lodge #692.
