Community PLACE OF DEATH: at his residence surrounded by his family DATE OF DEATH: Sunday, July 19, 2009 TIME AND DATE OF FUNERAL: Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 2:30 pm. The body will lie in state at the church 30 min. preceding the service PLACE OF FUNERAL: New Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church INTERMENT: New Lebanon Church Cemetery MINISTERS: Rev. T. Richard Harris and Rev. Kenny Haun SURVIVORS: One son and daughter-in-law: Jimmy and Dee Anna Carter of Lost Mt. Community. Two daughters and one son-in-law: Carole and Lee Miller of Kingsport and Betty McNeese of Lost Mt. Community. Seven Grandchildren: Cheri and husband Mike Horton, Melanie and husband Gary Riddle, Jennifer and husband Brad Starnes, Joey and Husband Chris Compton, Michael and wife Laura McNeese, Mark and wife Julie McNeese, Mary Ann and husband Daryl Hicks. Eleven great – grandchildren: Conner Linkous, Wesley and Chelsea Horton, Andrew, Hannah and Brennan Starnes, Brooke and Seth Compton, Mendy and Macy McNeese, Meredith and Madeline Jones and Ian Hicks. One sister and her husband: Jean and Charles English of Kingsport. Two brothers-in-law: J. B. Woolsey of Greeneville and Randy Fleenor of White Pine. One sister-in-law: Mrs. Robert (Marquerite) Harmon of Summersville SC. Several special Nieces and Nephews PRECEEDED IN DEATH: Wife of 67 years Wanell Woolsey Carter who passed away Oct. 10,2004. Parents: J.V. “Vick” and Effie Maines Carter. Sisters: Edith Cantrell, Lucille Foshee, Faye Fleenor, Joan and Helen Carter PALLBEARERS: Roger Woolsey, Doug Woolsey, Jerome Woolsey, Ronnie Armstrong, David Britton, Bill Woolsey, Jeffery McNeese and Lynn Foshee HONORARY: Rex Jeffers, Robert H Bailey, Charles McNeese, Rev. Frank Lethco, Tim Gaby, friends and Neighbors of the Lost Mt. Community and the Men of New Lebanon Baptist Church. Occupation: as a young man Mr. Carter worked for the Tennessee State Highway Engineering Dept. as a surveyor in the Harriman- Roane County area. Later he became a farmer in the Lost Mountain community, operated a grade A dairy farm with his son and hauled milk to Pet Milk Co. for 19 years. He also was Co-owner of Woolsey-Carter Grade A Milk Transport. Mr. Carter was one of several individuals instrumental in helping establish the Greene County Soil Conservation District where he was an n active member for many years. He was a former member of the Baileyton Ruritan Club and a charter member and first chairman of North Greene Utilities Inc. Church Membership: New Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, chairman of the building committee and a member of the Men’s Bible Class as long as his health permitted. REMARKS: The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers: Jennie Hall, Tena Walls , Carol Harrell the staff of Amedisys Hospice Services and Dr. Richard Aasheim For those wishing to donate in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Lebanon Baptist Church building fund in c/o Jane Murray 10216 Horton Hwy, Greeneville TN, 37745.
