Allen Armstrong

–

Greeneville, Tennessee

Allen Armstrong, 66, of Greeneville, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the
James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, following a brief illness.
Allen was devoted to his family and was proud to have served his country in the U.S.
Army for 9 years, rising to the rank of sergeant. For the last 10-plus years, Allen was
active in the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 42 –Greene County, serving as
Commander for three years. He made it his life’s mission to connect countless
veterans and their families to the services and resources they deserved.
Following his retirement from factory work, Allen could usually be found lounging
on his front porch with one eye on his cup of black coffee and the other on the twin
bird feeders where he kept his multitude of feathered friends well-fed through all
seasons.
Allen loved to talk and could carry the conversation with anyone at any time. He
greeted the world with laughter and his light-hearted approach to existence would
brighten the gloomiest day. He is somewhere laughing right now in the Great
Beyond at all the fuss being made about him. And he certainly would laugh at the
fact that smoking did not take him out.
Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Lowery Leek; stepmothers, Betty
Armstrong and Frances Armstrong; a brother, Ken Finzel; and paternal and
maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his significant other, Diane Fox, of Greeneville; son, Brett
Armstrong, of Amboy, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Ryan Kreutziger,
of South Elgin, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Tasha and Brad Lawyer, of
Greeneville; stepdaughter, Jessica Fox, of Inman Mills, South Carolina;

Greeneville; brother, Roger Armstrong, of Johnson City; and brother and sister-in-
