JH "Doc" Payne, age 78, of the South Greene community, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary Lue Payne; 2 Daughters & Sons in Law: Julia & Jeff Robinette of Greeneville and Sharon & Roger Collins of Kingsport; 3 Grandsons: Joshua Robinette, Grayson Collins, Daxton Collins; 1 Granddaughter: Jessica Robinette; 1 Brother: Bobby Payne; 3 Sisters: Peggy Vaughn, Sandra Weller, Betty Humphreys; He was the son of the late J. Harvey & Sue Payne; He was also preceded in death by 1 Sister: Carolyn Proffitt; Brothers in Law: Don Covington, Hart Covington, Bee Weller, Robert Vaughn, Bill Humphreys He was retired from Magnavox and Bewley Warehouse. He was a member of Trinity of United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Allie ___________, Sonja ___________, Jeannie McClain, and Pam Lane. The family will receive friends Friday from 12-2 PM at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service downtown. The funeral Service will follow visitation at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Greenelawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Sarah Varnell will officiate. The Greene County Honor Guard will conduct military graveside honors. Joshua Robinette, Grayson Collins, Ray Epley, Doug Renner, James Edward Payne, Mike Davis will serve as pallbearers.
