Rev. Lowell Dwight Kenney Obituary (1936

Rev. Lowell Dwight Kenney, 80, of Morristown, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at Heritage Health Center. Rev. Kenney attended United Theological Seminary. His first appointment as a pastor was at Union Temple, in July of 1957. During his career, he served at Perry County Mission Church, Bethel UM Church, Saint Andrews Church, and Centenary UM Church. He served at Centenary from 1974, until he retired in July of 1997. He was very active in the Morristown Police Department, United Way, and Morristown Church in Dandridge. During his years of retirement, Rev. Kenney enjoyed watching his grandsons and their friends play sports, mostly baseball. He always had a garden big enough to feed the neighborhood. He had lots of special neighbors in Dandridge. He is survived by: son and daughter-in-law: Stephen and Annette Kenney; grandsons: Lance and Logan Kenney. He is preceded in death by: wife: Dorothy Ann Haltom: parents: George and Fleta Kenney. Special thanks to Regency Retirement Village, the Heritage Center and Smokey Mountain Healthcare for caring for dad in this past year; they have cared for him far better than we could have imagined. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 PM at Centenary U.M. Church in Morristown. The funeral service will be held at 7 PM following the visitation, with Rev. Darris Doyle, Tom Ballard, and Bryan Wyke officiating. The family will also receive friends on Friday from 10-10:45 AM at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service Afton. A graveside service will follow at 11 AM at Graceland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Centenary United Methodist Church, 206 N.
